Warriors trio star in victory over Hornets, Karl passes Jackson on wins list

Draymond Green’s triple-double led the Golden State Warriors past the Charlotte Hornets 111-101 in the NBA on Monday.

Green’s 13 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists saw him became the second Warriors player to tally three consecutive triple-doubles.

Warriors team-mates Steph Curry and Klay Thompson added 30 points apiece as the NBA champions recorded their 35th successive regular-season win at home in Oakland.

Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb (22 points each) starred for the slumping Hornets, who suffered a fourth consecutive defeat.

DeMarcus Cousins helped coach George Karl surpass Phil Jackson on the NBA’s wins list after the Sacramento Kings upstaged the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-104.

Cousins came up big, posting 33 points and 19 rebounds in a double-double performance as Karl moved past Jackson into fifth place on the all-time wins list with 1,556 victories.

Karl is now only adrift of Pat Riley (1,210), Jerry Sloan (1,221), Lenny Wilkins (1,332) and Don Nelson (1,335) after the Kings beat the Thunder in Oklahoma City for the first time since the team moved there from Seattle in 2008.

The Thunder struggled without Kevin Durant, who sat out due to a sprained toe.

Serge Ibaka played well down low for the Thunder with 25 points, but Russell Westbrook hit just 6 of 23 field goal attempts to finish with 17 points.

Kyrie Irving was at his brilliant best as the Cleveland Cavaliers downed the Toronto Raptors 122-120.

Irving scored a game-high 25 points in what was easily his best game since coming back from a fractured left kneecap in the NBA Finals. He hit 10 of his 19 field goal attempts and also added six rebounds and eight assists.

JR Smith and LeBron James contributed 23 and 20 points respectively for the Cavs, while the Raptors were led by Kyrie Lowry’s 23 points and 10 assists.

The San Antonio Spurs improved their winning streak to five games thanks to a 123-98 victory at the Milwaukee Bucks and recruit Ish Smith’s double-double led the Philadelphia 76ers past the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-99 for a third win in six outings.

Elsewhere, the Miami Heat prevailed 103-100 against the Indiana Pacers in overtime, the Detroit Pistons accounted for the Orlando Magic 115-89 and the Brooklyn Nets lost 103-94 to the Boston Celtics.

The Houston Rockets edged the Utah Jazz 93-91 and the Memphis Grizzlies overcame the Portland Trail Blazers 91-78.
