Super Eagles head coach, Genort Rohr has labelled South Africa as favourite ahead of Wednesday’s AFCON quarterfinal clash with the Bafana Bafana in Cairo.
South Africa defeated host nation and tournament favourite, Egypt 1-0 in the Round of 16 to set up a last 8 showdown with Nigeria who sent defending champions, Cameroon packing after a 3-2 defeat of the Indomitable Lions.
Speaking at the pre match press conference, Rohr reckoned that South Africa have now emerged as one of the AFCON top shot.
“We saw the South Africa game against Egypt and I am sure they will be full of confidence. For me when you beat the favourites then you are favourites yourself. We know them well through the qualifiers, we are confident especially after our last game” Rohr said.
Nigeria will face off with South Africa in Cairo with kickoff at 8pm.
