Super Eagles attacker Samuel Chukwueze has been named the man of the match of Nigeria’s 2-1 win against South Africa in a AFCON quarter-final game played at Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday.
The Villarreal attacker who was a constant threat to the South Africans was voted the best player on the pitch by CAF.
Samuel Chukwueze became the youngest goalscorer at AFCON 2019 after putting Nigeria ahead in the 27th minute.
Incidentally, the goal was is first for the national team and could be the first of many to come according to the 20-year-old Nigerian.
“It’s my first tournament with the senior side and it feels good to earn a win for my team by scoring. It’s more special to get the MotM trophy .”
Nigeria will now play the winners of the quarter-final clash between Algeria and Ivory Coast in the semifinal.
