2020 French Open Wrap: Nadal to play Schwartzman as Djokovic battles Tsitsipas in the semis

Sofia Kenin to play Teenager Iga Swiatek in Women's final

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic expectedly have reached the last four at the French Open.

World number one Djokovic reached the last four at Roland Garros on Wednesday after recovering from a set down to beat Pablo Carreno-Busta 4-6 6-2 6-3 6-4.

While Rafael Nadal booked a semi-final clash against Argentine 12th seed Diego Schwarztman with a straight sets win over Sinner but Nadal’s 98th victory in 100 French Open matches was far from straightforward.

Novak who injured his neck and shoulder would tackle Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinal and Nadal who is gunning for his 13th French Open title would also play Diego Schwarztman in the other semis.

His semi-final opponent, Schwartzman, advanced in a five-set, five-hour epic against US Open champion Dominic Thiem in the quarterfinal to book a showdown against the ‘Clay Master.’

In the women’s category,

Sofia Kenin will face Iga Swiatek in her first French Open final after a magnificent straight-sets victory over Petra Kvitova.

Kvitova had not dropped a set in five matches at Roland Garros, but a composed Kenin shattered the seventh seed’s hopes of ending a six-year grand slam drought with a hugely impressive 6-4 7-5 win.

To book a place in her maiden final, Teenager Iga Swiatek defeated Nadia Podoroska 6-2 6-1 at the French Open on Thursday.

Iga Swiatek became the first Polish woman in the Open Era to reach the Roland Garros showpiece finale.
