2022 NBA Draft first-round picks – Cavs draft Nigeria’s Ochai Agbaji with 14th pick

The 2022 NBA draft has been concluded with Paolo Banchero drafted by Orlando Magic with the first pick, Nigeria also had a representative in Ochai Agbaji who was picked by Cavs with the 14th pick.

Ochai Agbaji who was born in the US to a Nigerian father is a proud Nigerian going by his social media accounts where the Nigerian flag is fully represented.

The 22-year-old led Kansas into National Championship. The 6 ft 5 in shooting guard kicked into a new gear in the final 3 games on the NCAA tournament.

Agbaji scored 17 PPG on 62% shooting from the field, including 69% from deep, in the Elite Eight, Final Four, and National Championship to guide the Jayhawks to the title.

The shooting guard will link up with felow Nigerian Isaac Okoro who was drafted by the 2016 NBA Champs in 2021.
