Al Farouq Aminu shines in the battle of the most inform NBA teams

D’Tigers forward, Al Farouq Aminu was on fire as he splashed the treys and recorded his career high points in a quarter in Portland Trailblazer 115-111 lost to Houston Rockets at Moda Center on Tuesday night.

It was the battle of the two of the most inform teams in the NBA; Houston Rockets who have had two separate 14 win streaks and Portland Trailblazers who were on a 13-game winning streak but it was James Harden led Rocket who took the day.

Nigeria’s Al-Farouq Aminu put in a show and could have single-handedly won the game for Blazers on the night their backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum could find their rhythm and were completely taken out.

A questionable call in the last play involving Al-Farouq Aminu and Chris Paul, where the latter held and then pushed off the former who almost got the ball after the later missed his layup when the time was at just 03.5s with the score at 113-111 gave Houston the game.

The Nigerian was clearly fouled by the former Clippers point guard as he went for the rebound after Chris Paul missed his shot but instead, the official awarded two free throws for CP3 who made both shots to increase the score to 115-111.

Al Farouq Aminu posted 16 points in the first quarter alone, the highest points total he has ever made in a quarter to help the Blazers end that quarter with 31 points, and Houston 27. His 16 points were the highest of all the players on the court including James Harden who had 14 points at the time.

Al-Farouq Aminu’s 16 first-quarter points are more than he has scored in 51 of his 57 games this season.

He had a total of 22 points, 4 short of his career high points. He made 7-of-11 shots including 6-of-8 behind the arc. The Chief added 4 assists, 1 important block, and 1 steal on the night the Portland Trailblazers best players went 0-for-12 behind the arc and could only drop combine 28 points instead of their usual 45+ points.

In Al Farouq’s last four games he has dropped double-figure points; 11 in Blazers 113-105 win against LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers, 10 in Blazers 100-87 win against Detroit Pistons, 16 in Blazers’ 122-109 win against Los Angeles Clippers and his 22 points last night against the team who have won 3o of their last 33 games.
