Arsenal star implicated, under investigation for alleged rape

Arsenal star Thomas Partey has been implicated in a series of rape cases by a woman who was involved with the midfielder in the past, and the Ghanaian international’s case is being investigated by the Metropolitan police in the United Kingdom.

Partey, one of the finest defensive midfielders in Europe, was arrested for questioning on July 4 after a rape which took place a month earlier was reported. While in custody, the 29-year-old was further arrested for two more rape cases in April and June 2021, reported by a different woman.

Thomas Partey was released on bail until August but has seen his bail extended until October, one month from the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup where he is scheduled to play with Ghana. Latest reports from the Metropolitan police say that the midfielder has been cleared regarding the June 2021 rape but remains under investigation for those of April 2021 and June 2022.

In the midst of all this, a Twitter user @deffonotchaur came out to reveal details of her relationship with the midfielder, stating that the rape in question took place in Ibiza where the duo were on holidays following the conclusion of the European season.

According to the lady, she was in a romantic relationship with the midfielder before an argument caused them both to separate. In a bid to repair their fractious relationship, the 29-year-old invited her to spend time with him in Ibiza as he looked to celebrate his birthday out in Spain. According to her account of events, she was paid off by the midfielders representatives to the tune of around £200,000 to sign a NDA (Non-disclosure agreement).

Following the situation that happened with Benjamin Mendy and Mason Greenwood in 2021, fans await the result of this investigation with bated breaths. Thomas Partey was part of Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States of America and has returned with the side to their base to continue preparations for the new Premier League season.
