At last goal machine Adeleke Akinyemi leaves Ventspils for IK Start

Nigerian goal machine Adeleke Akinyemi has finally left his Latvian club Ventspils for Norwegian outfit IK Start on a three-year-deal weeks of battle.

IK Start beat the likes of Bordeaux, Young Boys, Trabzonspor, Maccabi Netanya, and Brondby to signature of the 20-year-old striker after paying his release clause.

The Norwegian club who has another Nigerian in their rank paid way more than his release clause to have their man.

Adeleke Akinyemi who caught the eyes of European big boys following his goal scoring form in the Latvian league and in the Europa qualifying games.

He scored 6 goals in two Europa League qualifying games against Albania’s Luftetari, four goals were in a game while he scored two in the second leg, he then scored one against Bordeaux before his side got eliminated.

He has scored a total of 12 goals in his last 8 games for the Latvian club in all competitions before making his move.

The Nigerian who was initially valued at €300,000 before his scintillating form became a €1.5m valued player as his club fight to hold on to him.

But after weeks of negotiations completed his move on Thursday and now join fellow Nigerian Afeez Aremu in the IK Start fold.
