Awoniyi targets Nigerian Supporters for Nottingham Forest

Taiwo Awoniyi believes Nigerians will follow Nottingham Forest’s English Premier League campaign because of him . Just like they follow other clubs that have Nigerian players.

 

Awoniyi who joined Forest from German Bundesliga side Union Berlin this summer told BBB Sport he knows ” Many people pick their clubs depending on where a Nigerian is playing or which team the family likes . ”

 

The Super Eagles Striker is speaking from his personal experience growing up in Illorin , Kwara State from where he was spotted and selected for the National Under 17 team where Injury to Isaac Success gave him the platform to excel.

 

On how Nigerians support the English Premier League , Awoniyi said ” The Premier League is very big in Nigeria because of players like Kanu, Okocha, Yakubu Ayegbeni, Joseph Yobo, Peter Odemwingie, and many others who all played here, ”

 

“Many people pick their clubs depending on where a Nigerian is playing or which teams the family likes. We all grew up watching it and loved it, and it is actually a dream come true to know that millions will be watching me now,” Awoniyi Stated.

 

The 2022/2023 English Premier League season will commence this week . Awoniyi and his Nottingham Forest teammates are guests to Newcastle on Matchday One .

 

Forest have reinforced the squad that defeated Huddersfield Town in the Championship Playoffs Final to secure promotion to the English Premier League for the first time since 1998/1999 season.

 

The likes of Taiwo Awoniyi , Dean Henderson , Jesse Lingard and few others have joined Steve Copper’s team whose primary objective should be Premier League Survival .

 

Speaking on his commitment to the team ahead of the new season , Awoniyi said “I want to give my best all the time and, by God’s grace, it will help us achieve our goals.
