Bryant illustrious career in numbers

Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant announced his plans to retire at the end of the 2015-16 NBA season – his 20th – on Sunday.

We take a look at the 37-year-old’s illustrious career in basketball.

13 – the pick used by the Charlotte Hornets to select Bryant in the 1996 NBA Draft before he was traded to the Lakers.

3 – his position on the all-time scoring list.

5 – the number of NBA titles. The record is 11, set by Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics great Bill Russell.

1 – Most Valuable Player award (2008).

2 – NBA Finals MVPs.

17 – Successive All-Star selections from 1998 to 2015. There was no All-Star game in 1999 due to a league-wide lockout.

4 – All-Star MVPs. A record shared by Bob Pettit.

280 – points scored in his All-Star appearances. No player has posted more.

81 – his highest points return in a game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. Only second to Wilt Chamberlain (100).
