Fury didn’t wear gum shield & gloves customized with Nigeria’s flag to call out Joshua – this is the main reason he did it

Tyson Fury pummeled Deontay Wilder to win the WBC title at the packed MGM Grand Las Vegas on Sunday.

Tyson Fury put up a flawless performance against the then undefeated champion of the world with a gum shield and gloves customized with the Nigeria flag.

Various reasons have been given to why the Gypsy King used a Nigeria flag customized and gum shield in his greatest win thus far.

Although, many believe it is a cryptic message to Anthony Joshua who has not hidden his Nigerian root and currently in Nigeria despite the British upbringing.

But if you have been following the two British boxers you will agree this was a move to proof his claims.

Back in 2017 when Anthony Joshua was on top of the world and Tyson Fury was battling with many issues including addiction and having his license withdrawn, he made a comment on his Instagram.

Here is an extract from post where Tyson Fury claimed he is more Nigerian than Anthony Joshua.

Tyson Fury captioned the video: “I’m more Nigerian than you! I’ll fly the flag for Nigeria when we fight.

“Gypsy man represents the world.

“Better to win and be boring than to get dropped all over the floor and scraping a win.

“I never got punched; you got carried off the canvas nearly.

“But winning is winning, whether you win by an inch or a mile. Still winning, and I still won. Let’s get it on then. I don’t need no warm-up fights.

“When this political rubbish stops against me, keeping me out of the ring a ploy, to give you a bit of a better chance of beating me.

“And we will get it on October or November, no warm-up fights needed for a bum like you, a useless dosser that you are.

“Let’s see if you can beat me when these bums give me my licence back.”

Guess he didn’t have to wait for them to fight to fly the Nigerian flag. This is the reason he wore those customized items not necessarily to call out Anthony Joshua, as the man even said in his post match presser that he has nothing to proof again.

He is even leaning towards a Deontay Wilder rematch than an Anthony Joshua unification fight.

Also Tyson Fury might have won those items to show the Naija spirit.
