Gent 2 Charleroi 1: Victor Osimhen’s 5th league goal not enough

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored his 5th league goal for Sporting Charleroi in their 2-1 away loss to KAA Gent in their Belgian division A match on Friday at the Ghelamco Arena.

There was no stopping Victor Osimhen who was on target last weekend as Sporting Charleroi secured a hard-fought 3-2 win against Zulte-Waregem at the Stade du Pays de Charleroi.

The Wolfsburg loanee brought his side level but his goal wasn’t enough to get his side a point against table-topper KAA Gent.

Giorgi Chakvetadze put KAA Gent in front with a header in the 36th minutes of the game before Victor Osimhen restored parity for the visitors in the 42nd minutes.

At halftime, it was all squared.

Giorgi Chakvetadze completed his brace in the 48th minutes of the game to ensure the home team run away with the maximum points.

Liverpool loanee, Taiwo Awoniyi was also in action for KAA Gent but could only play for just 10 minutes.

Victor Osimhen has now scored a total of 6 goals in his last six games including 4 goals in his last 4 league games.

Victor Osimhen has now scored 6 goals in all competition for Sporting Charleroi, 5 goals in 7 league games.
