I am very happy Nigerians take care of my life – Carlo Ancelotti

“You, you where are you from? was Carlo Ancelotti’s reply when a German-based Nigerian journalist asked if the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSG manager risks been thrown out at the German-giants Bayern Munich if he loses against PSG in their champions league matchday two clash on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich and Carlo Ancelotti ended their 14-month relationship a day after the German club suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of PSG. The outcome of the match and the sacking of the former Roma, Juventus, and Milan manager by the Bavarians might be surprising to many but not Oma Akatugba.

During the pre-match conference, Oma Akatugba who was the only black man in the hall asked the question that generated a lot of laughter from both the Italian manager and the journalists present at the conference.

“You lost against Hoffenheim and drew against VFL Wolfsburg and of course that has elicited, Akatugba interjected by Ancelotti “further, we won against Dortmund, we won against Mainz, we won against Anderlecht, we won against also Schalke, don’t forget.”

“Yes,” continued Akatugba, “I am talking about the build-up to this game and that has elicited a lot of criticism, are you scared that you might lose your job if you get beaten by PSG tomorrow.?”

“Strong question where are you from you?” quizzed Ancelotti, “I am from Nigeria and European football is very popular in Nigeria and that is why I am here,” said Akatugba.

“I am very happy that Nigerian people take care of my life,” said Ancelotti.

“I don’t think so it is an important game tomorrow it is true we didn’t start at the top but it is only the beginning of the season so it will be an important game tomorrow not decisive.

“It is a prestigious game off course we want to show our best we want to try to win and we want to try to be in the first place of the group this is the goal and nothing worst.

Oma Akatugba was a prominent football analyst in Nigeria before leaving the country for German.
