Hazard: I don’t need Madrid move to win Ballon d’Or, I can win it playing at Chelsea

Eden Hazard may have poured cold water on rumours linking him with a potential move to the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, this summer.

The Belgian has been repeatedly linked with a move to Zinedine Zidane side in the last four transfer windows, and reports from Spain suggest the deal is a done deal but Hazard is uninterested in the reports as he seemed happy at the London club.

In an interview with Sky Sports News HQ, the Chelsea danger man stated clearly he doesn’t need a move to a La Liga side before winning the Ballon d’Or an award ‘he hopes to win one day’.

“It’s in my mind. If I don’t, it won’t be a problem. I try to make a good career – the best I can – but I think some other players deserve to win it also.

“When Ronaldo and Messi retire, maybe it will be another couple of players like Neymar, Paulo Dybala or Antoine Griezmann, who knows? We will see. It’s not something I think too much about.

“Could I win it? If I play next season, we win the League, Champions League and maybe I win with Belgium in the world cup why? not you’ll never know.

“But I think in the last 10 years, the Ballon d’Or winners play in Spain, but it’s not automatic. If a player is better in England, he will win it.”
