Josh Maja hits brace in his first start for the Londoners

Super Eagles striker Josh Maja scored a brace in his first start to help Fulham secure a 2-0 win against Everton at The Goodison Park in a Premier League game on Sunday.

Maja who joined Fulham on loan from Bordeaux took the chance given him by his head coach Scot Parker with both hands after producing a masterclass in 73 minutes he spent on the field.

The 22-year-old striker scored his first goal in the 48th minute after receiving a lovely pass from another Super Eagles player Ola Aina.

Ola Aina and Super Eagles hopeful Ademola Lookman exchanged passes before Aina finally laid it on the plate for Maja who tapped in for his first.

He completed his brace in the 65th minute before he was subbed off in the 73rd of minute.

Josh Maja just the fifth Nigerian player to score on his first Premier League start, after Efan Ekoku in May 1993, John Utaka in August 2007, Peter Odemwingie in August 2010 and Alex Iwobi in March 2016.

Another Nigerian hopeful Tosin Adarabioye was also in action for Fulham in the shock win at The Goodison Park.

Alex Iwobi who has been in fine form for Everton was not called upon by Carlo Ancelotti as the Toffess suffered an expected 2-0 loss.
