Mixed results for Nigerian teams as 2018 ACCC kick start in grandstyle

It was bitter sweet for Nigerian teams as the 2018 Africa Cup for Club Champions kick-started in grandstyle in Abuja on Saturday.

While the women teams were forced to draw, the men teams were beaten by their opponents.

The first game involving Nigerian teams was the clash between Nigerian champions, Kada Queens and ACCC defending champions, GRA Ghana which ended in a goalless draw.

The second game involving a Nigerian team was a 4-0 defeat of Niger Flickers by Eastern Company of Egypt.

Three of the Egyptians’ four goals were from penalty corners while one was from an open play.

Aboutaleb Mohamoud and Rashwan Mohamed scored in the 5th and 32nd minutes before Ibrahim Amr added a brace from penalty corners to make it four in the 43rd and 44th minutes.

Delta Queens were unlucky not to pick the maximum points in their game as they were forced to a 1-1 draw by USIU, Kenya in their game.

Delta Queens took the lead in the 5th minute through Billo Esther from a well-worked out penalty corner but they were pegged back in the 20th minute by Amutebi Pauline Naise strike.

The last game of the day was played by Nigerian champions, Kada Stars, and Ghanaian chanpions, Exchequers.

Kada Stars were pipped by a lone goal. It was game between teams of similar style, young and talented squad but Ankomah Emmanuel’s 4th minute strike settled the tie.
