NFF praises President Buhari; lauds Okowa, Dare

A delighted President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick has showered praises on the His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for the present administration’s continued support and encouragement of the NFF and the National Teams, while giving kudos to the nation’s number one citizen’s personal keen interest in the teams.

Cup holders Nigeria will defend their Africa U23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt in November after the Olympic Eagles secured a robust 5-0 win over their Sudanese counterpart in the final qualifying leg at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening.

Pinnick also lauded the contributions of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as well as his administration, for hosting matches of various National Teams with the Stephen Keshi Stadium proving a happy hunting ground for all the teams.

He applauded also the support and encouragement of the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare.

Victory for the Olympic Eagles meant no Nigerian team has lost at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, with the Super Eagles beating Seychelles (AFCON qualifier) and Egypt (friendly) and drawing with Uganda and Zimbabwe in friendlies, while the Olympic Eagles had earlier pounded Libya 4-0 in the earlier round of the U23 AFCON qualification race.
