Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer in longest final to claim his 5th Wimbledon and 16th Grand Slam title

The World number one and defending Wimbledon champions Novak Djokovic has beaten Roger Federer in a thriller to retain his title.

The tennis greats went at it for almost five hours before a winner finally emerged after 4 hours and 57 minutes of great tennis action.

Roger Federer would have himself to blame for not winning his 9th Wimbledon title and 21st Grand Slam title after throwing away his chances to close the game twice.

Novak Djokovic had to save two match points to retain his title and claim his 5th Wimbledon Open title and 16th Grand Slam with a 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 13-12 (7-3) result.

The match is the longest final in Wimbledon history.
