Nigeria and Africa’s sole survivor at the WTT Contender series in Doha, Qatar, Aruna Quadri was sent packing from the competition at the quarterfinal stage after he lost to Chinese Taipei’s Yun-Ju Lin 3-1 on Friday. Quadri was the only African to reach the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
Quadri, who is ranked as number one in Africa and 20th in the world was left shell shocked by the fast start made by world number 7, Yun-Ju Lin who won the first two games 8-11 and 9-11, before he attempted to start a comeback as he won the third game 17-15. His hopes were snuffed out in the next game as Yun-Ju Lin won 9-11 to end the match with a 3-1 victory and progress into the semifinals.
