Report: Milan want Pellegrini and Lippi to replace Brocchi

Milan are thinking of Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini as their new Coach, assisted by Marcello Lippi.

The appointment of Cristian Brocchi to the bench of the Rossoneri, on from the sacking of Sinisa Mihajlovic, did not revitalise the sixth-placed team.

It seems a given that the club will sign a new Coach for the coming season, and the Gazzetta dello Sport reports of a strong interest in Pellegrini.

The Chilean tactician will have to give up his spot on the bench to Bayern Munich’s outgoing Pep Guardiola in the summer, and he could turn to Italy instead.

The question of Pellegrini’s signing is closely linked to that of the club’s sale to a Chinese conglomerate, but it may be the first of the two operations to be finalised.

It is possible that President Silvio Berlusconi will sort out the matter of finding a Coach before he completes Milan’s sale. Furthermore, he may still manage the Diavolo for a year even after relinquishing possession, as the new owners will likely need a transition period to set up the adequate staff.

Pellegrini could be assisted in his work by former Italy Coach Lippi. There are conflicting reports as to what the World Cup winner would be doing, though it’s likely he will be involved with the club’s transfer strategy.
