Rodgers impressed with Ndidi in Leicester City 3-0 win against Ajayi’s WBA

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is very impressed by Wilfred Ndidi’s performance in Leicester City’s 3-0 win against West Bromwich Albion.

The Foxes overcame a poor first half display to put three goals past the newly promoted West Brom Albion with a goal from Timothy Castagne and a brace from Jamie Vardy.

While Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused sub for Leicester City, Wilfred Ndidi who usually dominate in the defensive midfield role was deployed as a central defender.

Wilfred Ndidi filled in alongside Caglar Soyuncu in the defence because of Jonny Evans’ straight red card against Manchester United on the final day of the previous campaign.

And Brendan Rodgers was pleased with what he saw from his make shift defender, praising Wilfred Ndidi for his effort in the win.

“Wilfred Ndidi dropped back to play in the central back and did exceptionally well.

“Couple of heavy passes early one, apart from that he defended really strongly and played the position very well.”

With Jonny Evans still expected to miss league game against Burnley, and the Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal – Wilfred Ndidi might continue to play in that role.

Unless Wes Morgan who picked up a hamstring injury is miraculously fit, or Rodgers picks from either Filip Benkovic or any of the academy players Josh Knight and Darnell Johnson.

Semi Ajayi was also in action for West Brom Albion from the start of the match until the end.
