Rohr wants the N157m owed by NFF paid with interest

Sacked Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is asking that his compensation owed by the Nigeria Football Federation by paid with interest.

The issue between the German tactician and the Nigeria Football Federation have been involved a tussle over his compensation following his sack in December.

Rohr was booted out few weeks to the start of AFCON 2021 following a couple of embarrassing display and results from the Super Eagles.

In protest, Rohr took Nigeria to FIFA over the sack demanding compensation to the tune of over $1m which was not granted by FIFA who only ordered Nigeria to pay him a compensation of $377,879.46 (N155m as of December 2021 and N157m at the current official dollar to naira rate).

The said money is yet to be paid despite the 45 days initially ultimatum given to Nigeria.

There were reports again yesterday that another 45 days have been given to the NFF to settle the money owed to the German.

But Rohr has told Punch that he will be asking for an interest when Nigeria eventually pay his money.

Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, Rohr said, “Since the FIFA judgment, they (NFF) didn’t pay anything.

“FIFA paid me a part of the sum they owe me and that is normally (from) a part of the development budget they pay to African federations.

“My lawyer reminded them, FIFA and NFF, that interests have to be paid. The dollar amount will grow with time and this is the law.”

Asked whether he would be taking the NFF to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, the gaffer added, “No, because normally FIFA gives a guarantee for payment.”
