Samuel Kalu warns Genk teammates against complacency, vows to keep improving

Nigerian attacker Samuel Kalu Ojim has warned his teammates against complacency following their recent successes in both Europa League and Belgian First Division A.

Genk surprisingly eliminated Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League round 32 and followed that with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday but Samuel Kalu has warned his teammates not get carried away by their success.

The 19-year-old striker also expressed his gladness in scoring his first ever goal and also promised to keep working hard so he can keep scoring.

“I’m very happy with my goal, especially because it was so early in the game.

“Something like that gives the team confidence right away, but also the signal to keep working hard. But of-course it’s always nice to start the game that way. Hopefully, this is the beginning of more.

“Everyone was very keen on the victory, especially after the game against Tottenham. As we knew we should not underestimate the opponent. It is now important that we build on our good form, briefly enjoy the victory and then immediately focus on the next important matches. “

The Nigerian has scored 1 goal, assisted a goal in the 6 games played for Genk in the League this so far this season.
