Shanghai Shenhua 0 Shanghai SIPG 4: Odion Ighalo debuts in home drubbing to champions
Super Eagles striker Odion Jude Ighalo played his first ever game in the Chinese Super League for his new club Shanghai Shenhua in a disappointing 4-0 home loss to Shanghai SIPG FC on Friday.
The third highest goal scorer, Odion Ighalo was helpless as his side suffered an embarrassing home loss to the reigning Chinese Super League champions, Shanghai SIPG at the Hongkou Football Stadium.
Fredy Guarin in the 45th minute put the visitor in front with an own goal. Lu Wenjun increased Shanghai SIPG tally to two in the 65th minute.
There were more woes for the hosts after Bai Jiajun was sent off in the 70th minute of the game.
The champions captilized on their numerical advantage and quickly scored the third in the 78th minute through former Chelsea attacker Oscar Emboaba.
It became four in the 88th when Odil Akhmedov scored a fine goal to condemn Shanghai Shenhua to a heavy home loss in their first game of the new season.
Odion Ighalo who joined the 2017 Chinese Cup champions from relegated Changchun Yatai was on the pitch the entire duration of the game but failed to help his side from the heavy defeat.
