Silvio Berlusconi: Manchester United transfer target Gianluigi Donnarumma not leaving AC Milan
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their transfer pursuit of Gianluigi Donnarumma, with AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi insisting the goalkeeper is not for sale.
The 18-year-old shot-stopper is considered one of the most exciting young talents in the European game at the moment, and has been linked with a number of bigger clubs.
Most recently, United were reported to have discussed a possible transfer deal with Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola, with whom they have strong ties.
The super-agent helped bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford in the summer, but a move for Donnarumma may prove more challenging.
‘For us he is not for sale,’ Berlusconi told Gazzetta dello Sport.
‘He is a heritage of Milan, a wonderful product of our academy. He has shown attachment to our colours.’
United could be in need of a new goalkeeper due to consistent speculation that Real Madrid want to sign Red Devils number one David de Gea.
