Nigeria’s no3. Abel Shedrack defied the odds of an injury to reach the semi final of the 1st Chief Olusegun Obasanjo national squash open championship at the OOPL Squash Court Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Playing against Gabriel Oluwafunmilayo of Kwara State after close to two hours of amazing squash, Abel triumphed 3-2 in a game of best of five.

Speaking to sportsration after his win, a worked out and pain induced Abel gave glory to God for his win.

“I want to thank God for this win, it wasn’t easy for me despite my injury which seems to trouble me in the games I dropped”, Abel said.

“My opponent seems not to get the tactics, I was always playing from the back as I couldn’t move well and he kept playing into my hands”
“In all it was a good win for me and I thank my squash family too for their support”Abel concluded.

Abel will on Friday face Abdulrahaman Lanre in the semi final for a place in Saturday’s final
