Sunday Oliseh: I laid the foundation for Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh has said he put in place the foundation upon which Gernot Rohr built his Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles currently ranked 3rd in Africa and 31st in the World, are one of the best in teams in the world.

With players like Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Simon Moses, William Troost-Ekong, and Wilfred Ndidi the Eagles are not just one for the moment but one for the future.

And Sunday Oliseh who was in charge of the Super Eagles for less than a year said the players he put together between 2015-16 made the basics of current squad.

“When I was coach, I was trying to assemble a new team,” said Oliseh to Soccernet.

“In fact, the basics of the current national team are made up of players that I have put together.”

In his last game in charge as the Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh had the likes of Carl Ikeme, Leon Balogun, Elderson Echiéjilé, Musa Muhammed, William Troost-Ekong, John Obi Mikel,Ogenyi Onazi, Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa.

And Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Jamiu Alimi, Simon Moses, Abdullahi Shehu, Wilfred Ndidi, Nosa Igiebor and Brown Ideye.

Utter rubbish. Did he not tell Troost Ekong that he was too soft for African football? What a pompous attention seeker.
