Wellington Jighere Wins Maiden Wellington Scrabble Classics

Wellington Jighere has claimed the maiden Wellington Scrabble classics held at Option57 Hall and Suites, Akesan, Lagos on Sunday.

A total of 56 players participated in the Classics that had two categories; 26 participated in the Masters while the Opens category had 30 Scrabblers.

While Wellington Jighere won the Masters category, Abiola Oyinloye took the Opens category.

The last three and two rounds in both categories were keenly contested by the top two players in both categories; Wellington Jighere – Nsikakabasi Etim in the masters and Abiola Oyinloye – Jerry Igwe.

Wellington Jighere lost two of his last three games against Nsikakabasi Etim by 364-376, 416-418 but won the last game 425-381 to finish with 11 wins from 15 and a healthy point difference of +1003

His four loses were 406-407, 465-479 to Kabir Olaiya, Oloro Opeyemi respectively and 364-376, 416-418 to Nsikakabasi Etim.
