Wilshere, Sturridge, Mandžukić and other top free agents

Jack Wilshere, Daniel Sturridge, and Mario Mandžukić are part of the top players who are without clubs after their contract with their previous clubs expired or were released.

1. Jack Wilshere

The 28-year-old midfielder was tipped for greatness after breaking into the scene under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

He was mentioned on the same breath at Barcelona legends Andre Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez but injury has not helped his career.

Jack Wilshere was released by Arsenal after years at the London club.

He joined West Ham im 2018 and was limited to less than 30 games in all competitions due to injury.

At the start of the new season he was again released by West Ham.

2. Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge was tipped to go all the way to the top due to bis versatility and productivity in front of goal.

Having risen through the academy of Manchester City, he played for Chelsea, Bolton, Liverpool and Trabzonspor.

Sturridge, 31, won the UEFA Champions League title with Chelsea and Liverpool.

3. Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck was once the subject of interest between Ghana and England but the later won the tussle.

He was under the tutelage of the great Sir Alex Ferguson where he blossomed.

But it all changed for him after the departure of the Scot, since leaving Manchester United, he has played for Arsenal and Watford ut currently without a club.

4. Mario Mandžukić

Mario Mandžukić is the last name you would expect to see on this last. At 34, he is still a quality and a good option to have for any team.

He has played for clubs like Bayern Munich, Juventus and Atletico Madrid where he won multiple league titles and one champions league title.

5. Nathaniel Clyne

The former Southampton trainee has lost his appeal. On a good day Clyne offers a lot with his attacking moves, not exactly a liability defensively.

Injury and form sent him out of Liverpool, he joined Bournemouth after leaving Liverpool but he is now without a club.

6. Yaya Sanogo

If you are a football manager player, you will know how good Yaya is in the game.

Sanogo was particularly a better player than Sergio Kun Aguero in the versions from 2010-12 but in reality he was just the opposite.

He joined Arsenal and failed to impress. Left for Toulouse in 2017 and after three years at the French outfit he was released.

7. Alexander Pato

The one-time golden boy had spells at Ac Milan where he played alongside football greats such as Ronaldo de Lima, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Ricardo Kaka, Alexandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Andre Pirlo.

He had a short spell at Chelsea before returning to Brazil. Currently at 31, he is without a club.

Other notable players who are also without club are Shingi Kagawa (31), Fabio Borini (29), Hatem Ben Harfa, Antonio Valencia (35), Steven Defour (32), Fabio Borini (29).
