Xavi extends incredible Al Sadd record

Can wrap up Qatar League title next week

Al Sadd manager, Xavi Hernandez continued his impressive record since taking over at the helm of the Qatari club at which he finished his playing career as his side defeated Al Duhail 2-0 to win the Qatar Cup on Friday.

Algerian forward, Baghdad Bounedjah scored a brace with goals in the 9th and 77th minute to power his team to victory over Al Duhail in the final. Xavi’s coaching style mirrors the possession based pattern for which he was known during his playing days and he has now won five titles as manager of Al Sadd, having a 100% record in finals. Al Sadd will be crowned as the Qatar Stars League champions if they pick up a win against Umm Salal next week, and they are currently in the Quarterfinals of the Amir Cup where they are to take on Al Gharafa. His side are undefeated in the league this campaign.

Xavi, whose Barcelona appearance record of 504 appearances was eclipsed only this season by Lionel Messi reportedly rejected the Barcelona job back in the summer after the club parted ways with Quique Setien to enable him perfect his trade before returning to his boyhood club, before Ronald Koeman was eventually appointed.
