Sri Lanka name Malinga as captain for World T20 and Asia Cup
Lasith Malinga will return from injury to captain defending champions Sri Lanka in the World Twenty20 and the Asia Cup.
The paceman missed the recent series defeat against India due to a knee injury, but has been included in a 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 tournaments.
Vice-captain Angelo Mathews is also back, along with spinner Rangana Herath and paceman Nuwan Kulasekara.
But there is no place for young seamer Kasun Rajitha despite his impressive display in the five-wicket win over India in Pune this month.
The Asia Cup gets underway in Bangladesh on February 24, with Sri Lanka then returning to India to start their World T20 defence in March.
Sri Lanka’s first opponents will be a qualifier in Kolkata on March 17 before they take on West Indies, England and South Africa in Group 1.
