Yakubu Aiyegbeni has said he was a ruler taller than every other Nigerian strikers during his time in the Super Eagles set up.
Despite playing in the era that had strikers like Obafemi Martins, Peter Odemwingie, Ike Uche, John Utaka and the likes; Yakubu Aiyegbeni said they were nowhere as good as he was.
The retired striker while speaking via telephone on Lagos Talks’ Sports Zone said the confident he had in his abilities was misjudged as arrogance.
Aiyegbeni who is famous amongst Nigerian football lovers ‘as the man who missed the goal they would never be able to explain to their kids’ said he was 100% better than the other strikers of his era.
“I know people often said I was arrogant when I was in the Super Eagles, but that isn’t true.
“I just knew that I was better than the other strikers. One hundred per cent.”
Yakubu Aiyegbeni scored a total of 21 goals in 57 games to end his career as Nigeria’s third-highest scorer just behind Rashidi Yekini and Segun Odegbami.
