Jordan Spieth: ‘I feel no pressure ahead of US Open’

Jordan Spieth has insisted that he does not feel any extra pressure ahead of the defence of his US Open title this week.

Twelve months ago, Spieth prevailed at Chambers Bay to win his second major crown and he is one of the favourites to emerge victorious at Oakmont.

However, the world number two says that preparation for the tournament has been like any other and that he feels confident of making it back-to-back victories at the event.

The 22-year-old told reporters: “I haven’t felt like a defending champion. There have been no festivities, it just feels like a normal week that I got here early for and I’ve prepared harder for.

“I feel very confident about my game right now so coming in as the defending champ, that can definitely help me if I get into contention but for now, it is about getting moving. It really feels like a normal event, which is nice.”

On his last appearance on the PGA Tour, Spieth won the Dean & Deluca title in his home state of Texas.
