Knicks acquire 2011 MVP, Derrick Rose from Bulls

Derrick Rose will try to revitalize his career and the Knicks franchise at the same time.
In a stunning pre-draft trade, the Knicks announced they have acquired the former MVP from the Bulls along with guard Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick. The Knicks are sending Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon to Chicago in the deal.
“This is an exciting day for New York and our fans,” Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said in a statement. “Derrick is one of the top point guards in the NBA who is playoff-battle-tested. He adds a whole new dynamic to our roster and immediately elevates our backcourt.”
Rose, only 27, is a former 2009 Rookie of the Year and 2011 MVP, but his career has been derailed by major knee injuries. After his ACL tear in April 28, 2012, he endured two more knee surgeries.
Rose, 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, finished his seventh season with the Bulls. He averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 assists and 31.8 minutes over 66 games played.
