Marsh, Hazlewood star as Australia beat West Indies to clinch tri-series

Australia took out the one-day international tri-series thanks to a 58-run win over West Indies on Sunday.

Set 271 for victory at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, the hosts were bowled out for 212.

Matthew Wade made an unbeaten 57 for Australia after they elected to bat and they got an even contribution.

Aaron Finch (47) and Steve Smith (46) also impressed, but no-one was able to go on and make a big score.

But Mitchell Marsh (3-32) took crucial early wickets and Josh Hazlewood (5-50) finished off a largely comfortable win.

Johnson Charles made 45 for the Windies and Denesh Ramdin 40, but Marsh ensured they were reduced to 72-4 in their chase.

Charles and Andre Fletcher made a decent start for an unchanged Windies side, putting on 49 for the first wicket.

However, Hazlewood had Fletcher (9) caught at slip by Smith before Marsh took three crucial wickets.

He removed Darren Bravo (6) and Marlon Samuels (6), as well as the settled Charles.

Ramdin and the lower-order, led by Jason Holder (34), tried hard but they were unable to recover.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (1-46) and Adam Zampa (1-50) were brought in to replace James Faulkner and Scott Boland.

After the early loss of Usman Khawaja for 14, Finch holed out three shy of a half century off the bowling of Kieron Pollard (1-33).

George Bailey (22) was given a life as Carlos Brathwaite opted not to review an lbw decision, but the all-rounder had his man shortly afterwards as the batsman played on.

Two big wickets in quick succession then had Australia reeling as Smith skied Shannon Gabriel (2-58) to midwicket for 46 and the same bowler trapped Glenn Maxwell (4) in front.

Marsh (32), Mitchell Starc (17) and Coulter-Nile (15) stuck around to assist Wade, the wicketkeeper smashing the final ball of the innings for six to finish unbeaten with an excellent 57 from 52 and propel Australia to a competitive score.
