Emenike scores as Fernabache crash out of Champions League
Emmanue Emenike scored for Fernabache in his sides 3-1 defeat to Monaco at the King Louis II Stadium. The result put AS Monaco to the Champions League play-offs having secured a 4-3 win on aggregate.
Valere Germain opened the scoring for the Ligue 1 side just three minutes in after receiving a pinpoint pass, getting himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Ertugrul Taskiran, and slotting a low shot into the net.
Monaco then doubled their lead in the 18th minute after Hasan Ali Kaldirim conceded a foul in the box to gift the opposition a penalty, which Falcao duly rattled into the right-hand side of the goal.
The Turkish giants, however, would halve the deficit shortly before the hour, as Emmanuel Emenike latched on to a precise pass into the box and, with acres of space, struck home to put their opponents on edge.
Nonetheless, the night would belong to Leonardo Jardim‘s charges thanks to Germain’s second goal of the night in the 65th minute, a first-time shot which flew into the roof of the net.
