2019 Flying Eagle speaks on how Mikel Obi inspired his dream of playing in Europe
Akor Adams was a member of Nigeria`s 2019 Flying Eagles set. The forward has revealed how watching Mikel Obi inspired his dream of playing in Europe.
That dream became reality in 2018, when he signed for Norwegian club Sogndal.
Now 23, Akor Adams in an interview with TV2 in the build-up to his current club Lillestrom`s Norwegian cup final loss to Brann stated he now looks back on the times and is convinced “its so worth it.”
Adams said : “I talk about my dreams and then people laugh. It sounds ridiculous, but that’s how I am. I think anything is possible.
“I told my mum I wanted to play in Europe. She actually believed me. When I look back on it all, it’s so worth it.”
“That was all we knew then. The ones we saw playing football there. We had John Obi Mikel and we all wanted to be like them. It became the setting for our dream.” he stated.
Adams was part of Nigeria`s team to the 2019 FIFA World Cup and featured in the games against USA and Qatar.
The Paul Aigbogun tutored U-20 Eagles qualified for the knockout rounds as one of the best ranked 3rd placed teams only to be knocked out be Senegal in the round of 16.
Akor returned to Norway where he has spent his career till date, The striker is currently on the books of Lillestrom and has scored 7-goals in his 7-games this season.
