2022-23 UEFA Champions League Draw: Osimhen, Bassey set to lock horns as Amoo lands in Group of Death
The 2022-23 UEFA Champions League draw has been concluded with all 32 teams in the competition designated into eight groups. A number of Nigeria’s representatives in the competition have seen their sides receive tough draws.
Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen and his Napoli side will face his compatriot Calvin Bassey and Ajax in the group stage. They will also do battle with 2019 champions Liverpool. Bassey will make an immediate return to Scotland as Rangers was also drawn in Group A alongside the three teams.
The duo of Paul Mukairu and Akinkunmi Amoo will have their work cut out as their Copenhagen side have been drawn in the Group of Death alongside Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
Zaidu Sanusi’s FC Porto will face Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Belgian outfit Club Brugge in their Group stage campaign in the 2022-23 Champions League.
The UEFA Champions League draw sees the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, Calvin Bassey, and Angel Di Maria will make immediate returns to the former clubs after completing moves over the summer.
Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona have been drawn together for a second successive season, and Manchester City will renew hostilities with Borussia Dortmund after both sides faced each other in the quarterfinals in 2021.
