2022 FIFA World Cup was ‘ premeditated ‘ to favour Lionel Messi – Van Gaal claims
Van Gaal has claimed the the 2022 FIFA World Cup was ‘ premeditated ‘ to favour of Argentina to allow superstar Lionel Messi a taste of the World’s Football grandest prize.
Veteran Coach Van Gaal was in charge of the Netherlands national team to the 2022 World Cup and had bitter exchanges with Messi before and during their quater-final meeting.
Messi famously made gestures at the Oranje technical area after scoring in the Argentina win in response to Louis Van Gaal’s pre match comments.
Argentina went on to win the title, defeating France on penalties in the final to be crowned World Champions.
Van Gaal who quit his role as Netherlands Coach after the tournament is convinced of a ‘ premeditated ‘ plot to hand Argentina the title.
While reflecting on the World Cup in Qatar, Van Gaal told Dutch outlet NOS: “I don’t really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it was all premeditated game.
“I mean everything I say. That Messi should become world champion? I think so, yes.”
