2022 NBA Finals: Warriors defeat Celtics, level series in Game 2
The Golden State Warriors picked up a comprehensive 107-88 win over the Boston Celtics to take Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals and equal the series at one apiece.
Having lost Game 1 due to a fourth quarter blitz by the Celtics, the Golden State Warriors knew it would be a disaster if they lost Game 2 in front of their fans at the Chase Center.
The Boston Celtics started out with a much more confident approach than their hosts, with Jaylen Brown leading his side’s early charge. The Warriors, however, went into the first quarter break in possession of a 31-30 lead despite being behind for long periods in the first quarter.
The second quarter was not much different as the Warriors ended the first half strongly, holding a 52-50 advantage over their opponents at the interval. The third quarter saw the Warriors blow their opponents away in spectacular fashion as they extended their lead to 87-64 by the end of the third quarter.
The Celtics claimed the fourth quarter but were unable to repeat their heroics from Game 1, with the match ending 107-88 in favour of the home side.
Steph Curry led all scorers in the game with 29 points. Jordan Poole added 17 points and Klay Thompson contributed 11 points. The Warriors welcomed back Gary Payton II for his first appearance in the 2022 NBA Finals after an injury layoff.
Jayson Tatum led the scoring for the Celtics with 28 points on the night. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White contributed 17 and 12 points, respectively, for the Celtics.
