2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic pushed 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz Garfia to his limits before the teenage Spaniard defeated him in five sets to book his place in the last eight in New York. Alcaraz won the match against his Croatian opponent 6-4 3-6 6-4 4-6 6-3.
Casper Ruud became the first man from Norway to reach a Grand Slam semifinal after he overcame Matteo Berrettini in their quarterfinal meeting at Flushing Meadows.
