2022 WC: Tricky opposition for Argentina, France as Group C and D games get underway
The ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar enters Day 3 today and for the first time, there will be a full slate of games as Group C and D games get underway with favorites Argentina and France up against tricky opponents.
SportsRation presents a preview of all four games for November 22, 2022 as we prepare for yet another day of top notch footballing action.
ARGENTINA VS SAUDI ARABIA
A Lionel Messi inspired Argentina team will get their campaign underway Vs Saudi Arabia at the Lusail Iconic Stadium by 11am .
The Argentines are on a 38 game unbeaten run since a 2019 loss to Brazil and will equal Italy’s 39-game record if they avoid defeat against Saudi Arabia.
Not just for the record, failing to win against the Saudi Arabian’s who are on paper the weakest in Group C that also houses Mexico and Poland.
MEXICO VS POLAND
A fairly even encounter expected at the Stadium 974 in Doha , Qatar by 5pm (Nigerian time).
Poland will yet again look up to inspirational skipper Robert Lewandoski against a Mexican side who will look up to Edson Alvarez for supplies to win this one.
DENMARK VS TUNISIA
Denmark have become a formidable unit as seen at the last European Championship and will look to go a step further at the World Cup in Qatar.
Alongside France the Danes are tipped to progress to the Knock-out round and will have to go past Tunisia today at the Education City Stadium in Al Rahyan by 2pm.
Mexican Referee Caesar Ramos will be the man in charge of this Group D clash.
FRANCE VS AUSTRALIA
2018 FIFA World Cup winners France will get their title defence charge underway when they take on Australia at the Al-Jounob Stadium by 8pm.
The final game of the day, a depleted France side will be wary of the world cup champions curse plus memories of their shock 2-1 loss to Senegal at the 2002 World Cup when they file out against Australia.
All eyes will be on Kylian Mbappe to provide the goals following Karim Benzema’s injury.
South Africa’s Victor Gomes will be the Referee for this one.
