2022 Wimbledon Day Six: Swiatek, Gauff, Tsitsipas miss out on last 16 place

Nadal, Kyrgios, Badosa through to fourth round

World number one Iga Swiatek saw her record-breaking 37-match winning run come to an end in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon championship. The 21-year-old lost in straight sets to 37-year-old Alize Cornet 6-4 6-2 to deny her a seventh consecutive singles title.

French Open runner-up Coco Gauff saw her 2022 Wimbledon campaign come to a crushing halt after she suffered a defeat at the hands of 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova in their third round meeting. Anisimova rallied from a set down to win 6-7 6-2 6-1 and reach the last 16 of the competition.

Harmony Tan continued her surprise progression at Wimbledon as she downed Katie Boulter in straight sets to book her place in the fourth round of the competition. The Frenchwoman won 6-1 6-1 against her British opponent.

Fourth seed Paula Badosa booked her place in the last 16 of the competition after a hard-fought straight sets win over Petra Kvitova. The Spaniard won the match 7-5 7-6 to progress in the competition.

Eighth seed Jessica Pegula was stunned by Petra Martic and lost in straight sets to the Croatian. Martic claimed a 6-2 7-6 win over the American to reach the fourth round of the competition.

In the men’s draw, second seed Rafael Nadal claimed a straight sets win over Lorenzo Sonego, with the 22-time Grand Slam champion claiming a 6-1 6-2 6-4 win over his Italian opponent to reach the last 16 of the competition.

Nick Kyrgios needed four sets to dispatch fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and reach the fourth round of the 2022 Wimbledon tournament. The Australian came back from a set down to win the match 6-7 6-4 6-3 7-6.

Taylor Fritz defeated Alex Morgan in straight sets to reach the Round of 16. The American claimed a 6-4 6-1 7-6 win over his opponent.

Alex De Minaur ended the hopes of Liam Broady at the 2022 Wimblwdon after he defeated the British man in straight sets. De Minaur won the match 6-3 6-4 7-5 to qualify for the next round.

Brandon Nakashima defeated Daniel Galan in straight sets to qualify for the fourth round of the 2022 Wimbledon tournament. The American claimed a 6-4 6-4 6-1 win over his opponent.
