Defending champion Rafael Nadal crashed out of the 2023 Australian Open in straight sets after losing to world number 65 Mackenzie McDonald in the second round in Melbourne. Nadal was one set and a break point down when he developed a hip injury that limited his movement. He managed to battle till the end before succumbing to a 4-6 4-6 5-7 defeat to the American.
Daniil Medvedev strolled into the third round of the competition with a straight sets win over John Millman in their clash. Medvedev won the game 7-5 6-2 6-2 to advance.
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Rinky Hijikata to qualify for the third round of the 2023 Australian Open in Melbourne. The Greek star won the match in straight sets 6-3 6-0 6-2 to progress.
Hubert Hurkacz played out a thriller against Lorenzo Sonego to reach Round Three of the 2023 Australian Open. The Pole came back from a set down to overcome his Italian opponent in five sets, winning 3-6 7-6 2-6 6-3 6-3.
Felix Auger-Aliassime came back from two sets down against Alex Molcan to book his place in the third round in Melbourne. The Canadian star won the match 3-6 3-6 6-3 6-2 6-2 to progress.
In the women’s draw, Coco Gauff won her match against fellow highly-rated youngster and one-time Grand Slam champion Emma Raducanu. Gauff claimed a 6-3 7-6 straight sets win as Raducanu battled hard but ultimately fell short as Gauff reached the third round.
World number one Iga Swiatek hardly broke sweat as she defeated Camilla Osorio in straight sets 6-2 6-3 to qualify for the third round of the 2023 Australian Open.
Jessica Pegula booked her passage into the third round in Melbourne with a 6-2 7-6 straight sets win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in their second round meeting.
Maria Sakkari recovered from going one set down to defeat Diana Schnaider in three sets. The Greek star claimed a 3-6 7-5 6-3 win to progress to the third round.
