2023 French Open Day Six: Alcaraz, Djokovic, Tsitsipas march on
Sabalenka, Kasatkina, Svitolina all through to fourth round
Carlos Alcaraz extended his winning run to 10 Grand Slam matches as he eased past Denis Shapovalov in Round three of the 2023 French Open. The world number one picked up a straight sets victory over his Canadian opponent, claiming a 6-1 6-4 6-2 win in their clash.
Novak Djokovic continued his quest for a 23rd Grand Slam title by reaching the fourth round of the 2023 French Open with a straight sets win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Serb claimed a 7-6 7-6 6-2 win to progress past the third round.
Stefanos Tsitsipas booked his place in the fourth round with a comfortable straight sets win over Argentine star Diego Schwartzmann. The Greek fifth seed won the match 6-2 6-2 6-3 to advance beyond the third round in Roland Garros.
Lorenzo Sonego delivered a masterclass to knock seventh seed Andrey Rublev out of the tournament in Paris, recovering from two sets down to win their third round meeting. The unseeded Italian won their encounter 5-7 0-6 6-3 7-6 6-3 to progress to the fourth round of the tournament.
Unseeded Peruvian star Juan Pablo Varillas defeated 13th seed Hubert Hurkacz in a five-set thriller to reach the fourth round of the competition at Roland Garros. Varillas recovered from a set down to record an impressive 3-6 6-3 7-6 4-6 6-2 win over Hurkacz.
In the women’s draw, Aryna Sabalenka defeated Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets to reach the fourth round of the 2022 French Open. The second seed picked up a 6-2 6-2 win in their third round clash.
Ninth seed Daria Kasatkina overcame unseeded American Peyton Stears in straight sets to reach the fourth round in Roland Garros. She claimed a 6-0 6-1 win to progress in the tournament.
Elise Mertens stunned third seed Jessica Pegula to reach the fourth round of the 2023 French Open. The Belgian 28th seed claimed a dominant straight sets win, claiming a 6-1 6-3 win in their third round meeting.
Elina Svitolina came from a set down to defeat Anna Blinkova and reach the fourth round of the tournament in Roland Garros. The Ukrainian star won 2-6 6-2 7-5 to progress past round three.
Sloane Stephens defeated Yulia Putintseva in three sets to reach the fourth round of the 2023 French Open. The American star won the match 6-3 3-6 6-2 to progress past the third round.
