2024 Australian Open Day 4: Djokovic، Rublev, Tsitsipas all progress

Sakkari, Jabeur, Wozniacki, Garcia crash out

World number one Novak Djokovic continued his march towards a tenth title at the 2024 Australian Open with a win over Alexei Popyrin in their second round meeting. The Serb claimed a 6-3 4-6 7-6 6-3 win to progress to the third round of the tournament.

Andrey Rublev also booked his passage to the third round in Melbourne with a straight sets win over Chris Eubanks. The Russian claimed a 6-4 6-4 6-4 triumph to reach the third round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas came from a set down to defeat Jordan Thompson in four sets and reach the third round. The seventh seed won the second round match 4-6 7-6 6-2 7-6.

Fourth seed Jannik Sinner made light work of Jesper De Jong in their second round clash at the 2024 Australian Open. The Italian claimed a 6-2 6-2 6-2 win to reach the third round.

Unseeded Czech star Tomas Machac pulled off an upset when he defeated 17th seed Frances Tiafoe in straight sets to reach the third round in Melbourne. He won the match against the American star 6-4 6-4 7-6.

In the women’s draw, Coco Gauff booked her place in the third round with a straight sets win over Caroline Dolehide. The fourth seed won the meeting 7-6 6-2 to progress in the tournament.

Second seed Aryna Sabalenka also moved through to the third round with a convincing 6-3 6-2 win over Brenda Fruhvirtova in their second round clash.

Eighth seed Maria Sakkari was dumped out of the tournament by Elina Avanesyan, who claimed a 6-4 6-4 win on straight sets to defeat the Greek star.

16-year-old phenom Mirra Andreeva took down sixth seed and multiple-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur in straight sets. The unseeded teenager claimed a 6-0 6-2 win to send a message to the rest of the draw.

Maria Timofeeva came from a set down to send Caroline Wozniacki out of the 2024 Australian Open in the second round. The 20-year-old claimed a 1-6 6-4 6-1 win over the former world number one.

Caroline Garcia was also stunned by the unseeded Magdalena Frech in straight sets as she crashed out of the tournament. The 16th seeded French star lost to Frech 4-6 6-7 to end her tournament.
