2024 CAF Player of the Year race too close to call, all 5 nominees advance to final

The race for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year is now even more exciting, with organizers announcing that all five nominees will move to the final stage. This decision comes because the voting is too close to determine a clear winner.

Unlike the women’s category, which has a shortlist of three finalists, the men’s award will feature five players in the final round.

CAF’s Ibrahim Sannie Daara confirmed today that the nominees for the men’s award are Ademola Lookman, Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Simon Adingra (Côte d’Ivoire), Ronwen Williams (South Africa), and Serhou Guirassy (Guinea).

“There’s a big tie, and that’s why all the nominees will now go to the final,” he explained.

In the women’s category, the final nominees are Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Barbara Banda (Zambia), and Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco).

The voting for the CAF Awards is conducted by journalists, national team coaches and captains, and members of the CAF technical committee.
