Red Bull’s Ricciardo rules out replacing Rosberg at Mercedes

Daniel Ricciardo has ruled out a move to Mercedes as the charismatic Australian looks ahead to the 2017 Formula One season with Red Bull.

A seat alongside three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is vacant at Mercedes after Nico Rosberg’s shock retirement following his F1 championship victory.

Ricciardo’s name has been mentioned as a replacement among others, but the 27-year-old – who finished third in the drivers’ standings in 2016 – has no plans to leave Red Bull.

“Honestly I have two more years at Red Bull,” Ricciardo told reporters in Perth on Wednesday. “That’s where I’m going to be.

“There’s a lot of people who are tempted to jump into that seat and I don’t blame them. But I just hope that whoever gets it, appreciates it.

“For me, you’ll see me at Albert Park for Red Bull.”
