New year, new deal as Day´s Nike switch is confirmed
One of the worst-kept secrets in golf finally became official on Sunday as Jason Day’s switch to Nike apparel was confirmed.
Although Nike announced their intention to withdraw from the golf equipment market last year, they continue to provide clothing for many of the sport’s highest-profile names, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
World number one Day was rumoured to have agreed a deal with Nike in September and the start of 2017 brought an official announcement of the news.
An Instagram post from the Australian captioned: “Don’t make a New Years resolution” was accompanied by the hashtag #Justdoit – Nike’s well-known slogan – and a link to the company’s official account.
Nike then released a tweet featuring an image of Day in a Nike cap and polo shirt, which read: “The Ace. Started from the bottom. Standing strong at the top. Member since 2017.”
The Ace.
Started from the bottom.
Standing strong at the top.

Day previously wore TaylorMade-Adidas apparel and will continue to use clubs provided by that company, having extended an existing deal in September.
