3SC deny links to article criticizing NPFL Chief Operating Officer

In response to an article circulating on social media that condemned Owumi and called for his resignation following referee Bashiru Sadu’s handling of their Matchday 36 clash against Rangers International of Enugu, 3SC issued an official statement clarifying their position.

“Our attention has been drawn to an article circulated recently on social media, indicting the COO in the aftermath of referee Bashiru Sadu’s stepping down, who handled our Matchday 36 clash against Rangers International of Enugu in Ibadan last Wednesday.

“We wish to use this medium to dissociate ourselves from the article, which we consider to be the opinion of an individual.

“As a club, we want to state unequivocally that we are not laying blame on anyone regarding any decision taken by the NPFL board, especially on matters of referees and officiating, which is the prerogative of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA).

“We are well aware that Rangers International struggled in the league last season and had difficulties at some points this season, even with Owumi as the COO of the NPFL.

“Shooting Stars boldly states that the Nigerian league has witnessed tremendous progress under the current leadership of the NPFL, with Owumi, whom we regard as an upright and dedicated administrator, playing a significant role.

“Our focus remains on our primary duty, which is to play the game according to the rules. We are happy to be part of the process of taking the NPFL to greater heights.

“Finally, as a club, we pledge our continued support to the NPFL board in the overall interest of the league.” the 3SC statement read.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars are guests of Bayelsa United FC on matchday 37 of the 2023/2024 NPFL season.
